Nestled among the rolling Chianti hills overlooking San Gimignano, the ancient rural village of Borgo Poneta has been transformed into a charming agriturismo.
It’s hard to capture in just a few words the beauty and enchanting atmosphere that fills this place. Walking through its historic farmhouses, barns, and granaries—now carefully restored in classic Tuscan style with a deep respect for the environment—you’ll discover cozy apartments, a museum of rural life, and spaces designed for comfort and relaxation.
Draw up close to the living detail of nature! This morning session offers an introduction to drawing and watercolor techniques used in botanical illustration. While primarily a scientific practice, botanical illustration offers plenty of surprises in the close-up observation of plantlife. An absorbing and practical opportunity to engage your telescopic eye and take home the results of a close encounter with the intricate wonders of flora in Tuscany.
This experience is designed to welcome both beginners and experienced painters, offering a series of reflections and practical techniques accessible to all. The aim is for each participant to gain something meaningful that extends well beyond the morning spent together, providing inspiration and tools for future artistic exploration.
By the end of the session, each participant will have their own unique works on paper to take home and develop further.
Josephine’s practice began with drawing and painting in London. On moving to Italy 30 years ago she explored the affresco technique: the application of powder pigments to wet plaster on a wall. This led to experimenting with other types of surface and paint…and a later return to canvas. Painting is a constant puzzling out.
